Family Members in Arabic Language

Family in Arabic: El Aila = العائلة also there is another word in Arabic: Al Oassra = الأسرة

Mother in Arabic means: Omee or Umm = أمي, Mama = ماما

Father in Arabic means: Abee = أبي, waalidy = والدي, Baba = بابا, Abati أبتي

Brother in Arabic means: shaqeek =شقيق, or Akhu =أخو

ٍSister in Arabic means: shaqeeka شقيقة, Ukht = أخت

My brother: Akhuya = أخويا

My sister: Ukhti = أختي

Grandpa: If you want to call him you can say it like this: jiddo = جدوا , or seedo سيدوا

The original word for Grandpa: jidd = جد

My Grandpa: seedee = سيدي, or  Jidee = جدي

If you're talking about Dad’s sister you can say it like this:

Am’maty = عمتي = my aunt

If you're talking about your mom’s sister it will be like this:

khalaty = خالتي = my anut

The word “Uncle” has two meanings in Arabic language, the mother’s brother, and the father’s brother.

The mother’s brother is called “Khal” and is written like this in Arabic: “خال”.


The father’s bother is called “Umm” and is written like this in Arabic: “عمّ”.
